A man wanted on first-degree murder charges in the death of a Markham, Ont., realtor has fled to Hong Kong, York Regional Police (YRP) have confirmed.
Police told The Epoch Times in an email the Canadian Border Services Agency confirmed the murder suspect, Zhixong Marko Hu, had left the country.
Police found her white 2024 Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicle later that day in the area of Finch Avenue East and Warden Avenue in Toronto.
Ontario Provincial Police officers discovered human remains Aug. 12 near Parry Sound, a town located more than two hours north of Toronto, the release said. Charred remains were found just off of Highway 400 near Avro Arrow Road. The Office of the Chief Coroner has since identified the deceased as Mui.
Three youths have also been charged in connection with Mui’s disappearance after police discovered them to be in possession of Mui’s property.
A 17-year-old male from Whitby faces a litany of weapons-related charges as well as two counts of fraud under $5,000.
Two male teens from Toronto, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old have also been charged. The 17-year-old faces three counts of fraud under $5,000 while the 16-year-old faces one charge of fraud under $5,000, failing to comply with a release order, and failing to comply with probation.
The second vehicle was a grey 2021 Porsche Cayenne SUV. Investigators said the SUV may have had a different licence plate on Aug. 9 or in the days leading up to that date.
Police also noted there have been 15 murders in the York Region in 2024, with five of those taking place since July 25.
